Data sheet

This description summarizes the functional specifications of the NOVA-C fall, presence and vital data sensor. It is designed for presence detection and automatic identification of falls and vital data collection.

Benefit

  • Privacy – The device is radar based (no optics), so there is no privacy issue.
  • No wearables – The device eliminates the need to wear a pendant or bracelet.
  • Easy installation – The device can be mounted on the wall or ceiling.
  • Robust – The device works in steam and moisture and in all lighting conditions.
  • Penetration – The device covers the entire room and penetrates non-metallic obstacles.

Product features

Fall detection

  • Detects a fall of one person when they are alone in a room
  • Detects a fall of two people when they are at least 1.5 meters apart
  • Detects all types of falls: fast falls, falls from bed, slow falls, controlled falls, falls in the shower, hidden falls (behind furniture, etc.)
  • Insensitive to different lighting conditions
  • Monitoring area: 4 x 6 m

Presence detection

  • Detects the presence of several people in a room
  • Not sensitive to lighting conditions
  • Monitoring area: 4 x 6 m

Presence detection in regions

  • Detecting the presence of a person in a defined region within the room
  • Minimum region size: 1 x 1 m in a 4 x 6 m room (for reliable detection)
  • Maximum number of regions: 16

recording of vital data

  • Recording of vital data in a defined region of a person
  • Minimum size of the region: 1 x 1 m in a 1.5 x 1.5 m detection area
  • Maximum number of regions: 16

Product overview

The NOVA-C sensor connects to the cloud or local server via WiFi. The data from the sensor is sent via a proprietary protocol. The OTA software upgrades can be performed via HTTP. The sensor sends fall, presence and vital data events.

Comparison mounting locations

The following comparison shows the advantages and disadvantages of the different mounting locations.

Ceiling

Benefits

Cons

Offers the largest coverage area, making it ideal for larger rooms

Requires ceiling access, which may require additional effort or tools for installation

Allows a clear, unobstructed view of the room, improving detection accuracy

May not be feasible in rooms with very high or inaccessible ceilings

Recommended for optimal performance

Installation adjustments may be more challenging compared to wall mounts

Suitable for environments with limited or crowded wall space

Supports full feature set, including „Empty Bed“ (events outside the bed) or „Empty Room“ (events at the door)

Low wall mounting – wall at 1.5 m height

Benefits

Cons

Easier to install and adjust than ceiling mounting

Coverage area is generally smaller than a ceiling mount

Suitable for rooms where ceiling mounting is not possible or practical

May have limited detection capability in larger or irregularly shaped rooms

Provides adequate coverage for smaller or medium-sized rooms

Placement must be carefully planned to avoid obstructions such as furniture or fixtures

No support for „Empty Bed“ (outside bed events) or „Empty Room“ (door events) events

Conclusion

  • Ceiling mount: Best for maximum coverage and performance, but requires more installation effort.
  • Low wall mount: Easier to install, but offers less coverage and may encounter obstructions.

Choose the configuration based on your room size, layout and installation option. Ceiling mount is recommended.
